This documentary film acquaints us with the life and sporting successes of the runner Emil Zátopek. Family photographs are used to reconstruct the athlete’s childhood, his enthusiasm for sport, and his meeting with his wife Dana. The movie presents Zátopek’s specific training methods whilst highlighting the runner’s determination and tenacity. With the aid of original newsreels, it recalls his string of racing successes (the Olympic Games in London in 1948, in Helsinki in 1952, etc.).

A robot illustrates the nascent, but growing relationship between man and machine - a relationship not without tension and resentment.

By imagining the robots with humans appearance, we can easily ask about our own human evolution. Shall we become robotized, hybrids, androids ? The radical vision of Blanca Li proposes an highly esthetical approach of her creation : eight dancers, eight robots are exploring the relationship between man and machine through suggestive choreography.

A weirdly touching parable of human obsolescence... a strange funny, very smart film," or so said Andy Markowitz of the Baltimore City Paper (which also named it "Film of the Year" in 2002). This film features many cast members who would later be seen in THE GUATEMALAN HANDSHAKE and a portion of its breakdancing scene appears in David Gordon Green's film SNOW ANGELS.
